Looking back at 2022: new improvements to Validic's products, features & data sources
2021 was the year of virtual care, where providers saw more than a 350% increase in remote patient monitoring (RPM) claims over 2020 totals.
39.3 million RPM patients in 2021 became 45.1 million patients in 2022, on track for 70.6 million patients by 2025.
If 2021 was the year of virtual care, 2022 was the year of virtual care expansion.
At Validic, our mission is to improve the quality of human life by making personal data actionable. Validic in 2022
Raised $12 million in latest funding round
Validic closed a $12 million financing round led by Kaiser Permanente Ventures, a national strategic healthcare investment program focusing on solutions that meaningfully improve quality, service and affordability for patients, providers, healthcare delivery systems, and the larger community. We also received participation from existing and new investors including Arkin Digital Health, Green Park & Golf Ventures, Ziegler, Gore Range Capital, Greycroft Partners, and SJF Ventures.
New financing comes on the heels of broader efforts to protect improved care access made possible through digital technologies, including proposals to extend telehealth flexibility beyond the COVID-19 Act.
“People expect a more personalized, engaging and convenient experience with healthcare providers” said CEO Drew Schiller. “Blending in-person and virtual care modalities, as well as incorporating personal health data and devices into the standard of care, enables greater collaboration, better care, improved patient satisfaction, and care team efficiency.”
We’ve already begun using the newly-raised capital to continue investing in our digital health and remote care platform, which has set the standard for EHR integration of digital health data alongside existing clinical data within the clinician workflow, ensuring the most complete and up-to-date patient health data is always available.

Teamed with Oracle Cerner for integrated RPM rollout
We partnered with global healthcare technology company Oracle Cerner to bring Validic’s integrated remote care platform to hospital and health system clients.
The relationship will help clients implement remote monitoring programs directly within their Oracle Cerner electronic health record (EHR) to better manage population-wide chronic conditions. This expansion helps Oracle Cerner clients capture and transform personal data from healthcare’s largest ecosystem of personal health devices into insights that can help improve clinical care decisions and delivery. It is embedded into the clinical workflow, supports chronic condition management, and provides remote monitoring without additional clinical staff resources.

Named Medtech Breakthrough “Best Connected Health Platform”
Validic was selected as the winner of the “Best Connected Health Platform” award in the sixth annual MedTech Breakthrough Awards program conducted by MedTech Breakthrough, an independent market intelligence organization.
“Many personal and home health devices are still not wirelessly connected, and this data is often inaccessible to the clinician outside of the clinic,” said James Johnson, managing director, MedTech Breakthrough. “Validic overcomes this connectivity barrier with a truly scalable solution designed to enable a simple, standardized connection between healthcare organizations and their end users’ mobile health apps and home monitoring devices.”
This year’s program attracted more than 3,900 nominations from more than 15 countries around the world. Validic was previously recognized with two “Best Overall Connected Healthcare Solution” awards by MedTech Breakthrough.

Approved in the Epic App Orchard
Validic’s remote care application was made available on the Epic App Orchard. This availability means that organizations using Epic can easily integrate the Validic solution into their existing workflow. Inbasket pools contain patient alerts, remote data details, and other messaging for reference by a single provider, or by an entire care team.

Expanded connected device and health KPI tracking capabilities
This year, our device integration list grew to more than 540 consumer and clinical sources, which organizations can use to monitor, measure, and derive valuable insights on their patients’ outcomes, engagement, and adherence in a particular program. We improved integrations with Samsung Health, Lifescan OneTouch, and Apple Health.
We also expanded Fitbit health metrics tracking to include SPO2, HRV, and respiration rate.
